Mr. Donnie Rubush - May 2024 Support Staff of the Month
Director of Operations, Mr. Keith Isaacs, is honored to announce that Mr. Donnie Rubush has been selected as May’s “Support Staff of the Month.”
Donnie, a custodian at Mt. Carmel Elementary, has dedicated 46 years to making sure the school maintains a healthy and safe environment for both students and staff. Donnie has been a custodian since he graduated from high school with his first job being at the old middle school during its last year. He then went to Mt. Carmel and has been there since the doors opened in 1977.
Mr. Rubush was nominated for this honor by several staff members. When asked why Donnie should be considered for this recognition, they responded, “Donnie has been at Mt. Carmel School (MCS) since the doors opened. That is rare indeed! He exemplifies the success and heart of MCS. Donnie has kept our building in pristine condition and works in ways that we don’t even realize. We can depend on him, whether it is to unlock a classroom door early for a teacher who forgot their key, or unjam a jammed locker, he will come to the rescue with kindness and patience. He spends hours every summer making our rooms sparkling clean for the upcoming school year and does all his work with a smile and great sense of humor. He is a quiet hero here at MCS…simply a legend!”
When he is not helping in the school building, Donnie enjoys spending time with family, and watching the Reds, Bengals, and IU.
When asked what the best part of his job is, Mr. Rubush stated, “All of the great kids and great staff at Mt. Carmel.”
