Mrs. Laura Frondorf - April 2026 Educator of the Month

Franklin County Community School Corporation is proud to recognize Mrs. Laura Frondorf, 8th Grade Special Education Teacher at Franklin County Middle School, as our Educator of the Month!

Mrs. Frondorf earned her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education – Mild Disabilities from Indiana State University, a Master’s in Education (Reading) from Ball State University, and a Master’s of Library Science with School Media Specialist Certification from IUPUI.

With 33.5 years in education, Laura has dedicated the majority of her career to serving Franklin County students. She began her journey with East Central Services assigned to Franklin County schools for 16 years before officially joining the FCCSC team in 2008. Throughout her career, she has filled many important roles including librarian in four of the district’s five schools and special education teacher for students with mild disabilities.

Laura was nominated for this honor by two of her students who shared how much she means to them. One student wrote: “Mrs. Frondorf helps me with all my class work. She is so kind to her students and staff. She always has the biggest smile and really cares about her students. When someone is upset, she sits with them one-on-one and knows just what to say to make them smile again.” Another student added: “Mrs. Frondorf is great because she always helps us keep up with our work and checks on us when we need it. She brings so much joy and happiness to our classroom. She remembers birthdays, shares treats on holidays, and even when we’re difficult, she stays calm and gentle.”

Beyond the classroom, Laura is active in the community. She is a member of Macedonia Christian Church, where she serves in a leadership role, and is part of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She also volunteers with the Franklin County Community Foundation and supports the Drewersburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Professionally, she is a member of the American Library Association and the International Society for Technology in Education, and previously served with the Indiana Library Federation, including time on the Young Hoosier Book Selection Committee.

Outside of school, Laura enjoys reading, baking cookies and pies, and spending time with family and friends. She is also involved with her husband’s Channel Seed business and their family farm.

When asked about the most rewarding part of her job, Mrs. Frondorf shared: “The best part of my job is spending time with my students and building genuine, meaningful relationships. I love encouraging them, helping them see their strengths, and guiding them toward reaching their full potential. Watching their confidence grow and seeing the moment they realize just how smart and capable they are is truly the most rewarding part of my work.”

Congratulations, Mrs. Frondorf, and thank you for your dedication to Franklin County students and families!
