Welcome Back Wildcat Family!

Message from the Principal

Dear Wildcat Community,

It is with great pride and appreciation that I write this letter to you as the Principal of Franklin County High School. I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to lead a school that puts the students first and values each and every student. I am so excited to be back home and work in Franklin County. I have served in education for 18 years as an AP US History and AP Psychology teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, At- Risk Interventionist and SPED Instructional Specialist  in the state of Louisiana.  I have also had rewarding educational experiences serving students as a World History and World Geography teacher and Freshman Focus coordinator in the state of South Carolina for 4 years. With each new experience, I have found that rigor, flexibility, clarity, consistency and safety in education to be vital in education. I am excited to work with the fine educators of Franklin County High School as we collaboratively provide our students with learning opportunities that will positively serve the needs of all students.

On behalf of Franklin County High School administration and staff, I would like to welcome you to a very productive and positive 2022-2023 school year. It is important to FCHS that everyone who steps through our doors-staff, students, and parents-are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun and engaging environment.

At FCHS, we believe that positive attitudes and involvement improve student success and increase student interest, motivation and achievement. FCHS is proud to support numerous challenging academic courses, an outstanding athletic program, second to none music, visual and performing arts programs and various school clubs for students.  We encourage you to experience our school culture, one that is focused on providing students with the academic and social resources that will prepare them to achieve their post-secondary goals.

At FCHS, we believe that every student can learn and be successful.  Our teachers and staff are committed to providing all students with an appropriate and challenging educational experience in a respectful environment that fosters learning and growth. An essential part of success for students is attendance.  At FCHS, we implore you as a parent/guardian to maintain an attitude that “Every Day Counts’’ for students to be in school and ready to learn each day. That is why we encourage you to make sure your child comes to school each and every day.

At FCHS, we also believe that it is important for our students to be connected to school through positive relationships and a strong sense of community. We recognize that family and community support are integral to your child’s success.  This is why we invite you to attend school academic, athletic, music, visual and dramatic arts programs, clubs, and organizational meetings throughout the year. Parents/Guardians play the most important roles in a student’s success and I invite you to collaborate with us in your students’ education.

When we take the time to strategically plan, forge positive relationships, celebrate our achievements, and continue to build a successful foundation, we can foster a learning environment where our entire Franklin County High  community thrives. Franklin County High School is a place where exceptional teaching and learning is the norm. Again, I am truly honored to be a part of the Franklin Community.

Have an excellent school year!

Ms. Michelle South, M. Ed.
