Mr. Liggett was nominated for this honor by a parent. When asked why Trent should be considered for this recognition, she responded, “Trent is great at communicating with parents and making it known that he is available to help students. My child has an IEP and Trent attends the meetings, takes notes, and makes very helpful suggestions. Additionally, I have seen him at sporting events taking pictures and cheering the students on. I think he is a great addition to Franklin County Middle School and is very caring. You can tell that he really enjoys his profession.”

Trent is involved in several community activities/organizations including IDOE School Advanced Safety Specialist for the past 16 years, Indiana Association of School Principals, Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education, and Retired Teachers Association. In his “free time,” Trent enjoys spending time with his family. He has two grandchildren, Mia and Claire, who help him enjoy the simple things in life.

Mr. Liggett has received a generous amount of awards, recognitions, and honors over the years (see list on next page).

When asked what he loves most about his job, Mr. Liggett responded, “The best part of my job is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the entire school community including students, teachers, and families. I enjoy shaping the school’s culture, setting academic and behavioral expectations, and supporting both student growth and teacher development. The most rewarding aspect is watching students thrive and knowing that I had a small part in helping them create the conditions for that success.”

The purpose of the “Educator of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, leadership in the school, dedication to the students, and involvement in the community.
