Mrs. Valerie Benjamin - December 2025 Educator of the Month

Valerie Benjamin

Franklin County Community School Corporation is proud to recognize Mrs. Valerie Benjamin, Kindergarten Teacher at Brookville Elementary School, as our Educator of the Month.

Mrs. Benjamin brings an outstanding 25 years of experience in education, with 24 of those years dedicated to FCCSC. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten minor from Franklin College and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Indiana University. Her commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth has made a meaningful impact on students, colleagues, and the community.

Valerie was nominated for this honor by a parent. When asked why Mrs. Benjamin should be considered for this recognition, she responded, “Thank you so much for being so sweet, caring, and patient with my daughter. She absolutely loves you so much and always tells me how much she adores your hugs. Thank you for making mine and my daughters' first school year wonderful. It means the world to my mommy heart.”

In addition to her role in the classroom, Mrs. Benjamin is an active member of the Batesville Gridiron Club. Outside of school, she enjoys a variety of activities that keep her inspired and energized. She loves to read, spend time with her friends and family, go boating, take long, relaxing Jeep rides, and travel whenever the opportunity arises.

When asked about the best part of her job, Mrs. Benjamin shared, “What I love most is getting to be part of a child’s growth—watching their confidence build, seeing the ‘lightbulb’ moments when something finally clicks, and knowing I get to play a small role in who they’re becoming. Every day is different, every student is unique, and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing them succeed—not just in the classroom but in life. It’s the relationships, the smiles, and those little breakthroughs that make teaching so much fun.”

FCCSC extends its appreciation to Mrs. Benjamin for her remarkable dedication, passion, and service to students and the community. She represents the heart of education and embodies what it means to make a lasting difference.
