I want to take a few minutes to tell you about myself. It is a great honor to serve as your new principal at Laurel Elementary & Jr. High School.
For those of you who may not know me I am not a stranger to the Laurel community. I first attended Laurel Elementary & Jr. High as a 4th grade student the first year our building was occupied. I graduated from Laurel High School is 1986. From there, I attended I.U.East in Richmond and obtained my teaching license. I stayed in Laurel during those years as a proud Laurel parent. Once I completed my bachelor of science to teach I worked at Laurel Elementary & Jr. High as a teacher for 9 years. I then transferred to Franklin County High School where I taught the next year before becoming an administrator. I obtained my Director of Special Education license and worked as an Assistant Director of Special Education at East Central Special Services and Ripley – Ohio-Dearborn Special Education for 8 years. I later returned to college to work on my building principal’s license as well as my Ed.S. at Purdue University. After securing my principal’s license I worked 3 years as assistant principal and 4 years as principal at Sunman-Dearborn Middle School. However, I continued to live in Franklin County. It was a blessing to return to my hometown, Laurel, as the school principal last year.
As I embark on my 2nd year as LEJHS principal, I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with the Laurel students, parents, staff, and surrounding communities. I know, together, we will continue to make great progress. Please join me to make this the best year ever for your children!
