FCHS Graduation – June 7, 2020

Announcement of the planned Graduation Ceremony

Franklin County High School is announcing that the 2020 FCHS Graduation will be held on June 7, 2020, on the football field, unless we have inclement weather. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the auditorium. Graduates and their families will be scheduled alphabetically for an individual appointment to have his/her name announced and to be presented his/her diploma. The ceremony will be video recorded and will later be edited into a formal FCHS Graduation Video. This video will capture each student receiving her/his diploma, turning their tassel, throwing their cap, the graduation speeches, and will include submitted accomplishments and future goals of the graduates. The video will be made available to the graduates soon after the graduation ceremony. Each FCHS graduating senior will be allowed to bring up to six guests. The ceremony will also be broadcast through Facebook Live on June 7th.

Students will report at their scheduled time and enter the football gates. The senior and his/her family members will be escorted to the football field. There will be face masks and hand sanitizer stations made available. There will be family seating provided that will be replaced and sanitized in between graduates. The graduating senior will then wait for his/her name to be read; the senior will walk across the stage and receive his/her diploma. The family will be allowed to video and photograph this moment; a professional photographer will be there as well to capture a picture of the graduate receiving his/her diploma. Upon leaving the stage, another videographer will record the student turning his/her tassel and throwing his/her cap. The graduate and family will then exit the field to the breezeway (concession stand area) where the Wildcat background will be set up for another photo opportunity with family members. At this location, the graduate will pick up a packet of additional graduation documents. Graduates will then exit the field and school grounds.
A Google Form will be sent to each senior requesting information, accomplishments, and future goals. This information will be used in the video. We also are asking seniors to send photos and short videos to Mr. Isaacs from this year’s school activities to be incorporated in the video. All pictures and videos need
to be school appropriate.

We all hoped to have the traditional FCHS Graduation, but after consulting with the Franklin County Task Force, it has been recommended that we hold a single-family graduation and limit the number of guests to six. Although we are all disappointed that we are in this uncertain situation, we feel that this is the safest process to honor our 2020 graduates and hope that the video will be a keepsake to be shared over the years as we look back to this unprecedented event.
