Author Bill Kenley coming to FCHS, March 22, 2017

Bill-Kenley-e1438697420980Brookville, Indiana – Bill Kenley will speak at Franklin County High School on March 22, 2017. The conversation with the Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award honoree is part of the Novel Conversations Speakers Program, sponsored by Indiana Humanities with support from The Glick Fund, a fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation.

“Twice voted the most influential and inspiring teacher in his high school, Bill Kenley knows what makes a young adult audience tick. Kenley’s debut novel, High School Runner (Freshman), is his fictional love letter to high-school cross-country. Kenley is an award-winning high school and college-level creative writing teacher, a three-time Boston marathoner with a 2:47 marathon personal best, and has a 50-miler under his belt.”

“Authors provide insight into a rainbow of different careers possible for students,” says FCHS student Jessica Walls. “Authors experience multiple supporting careers with the publishing of every book and application of many fields, such as marketing, business, and sales. When authors visit schools, they bring all of this information to students who may be still struggling to decide where they want to bring their lives. It makes the world a little more realistic for students. Also, authors give helpful tips and guides to hopeful future writers. To these students, this sort of exposure is like a day in an author’s life, and that is priceless.”
