Nationwide, 7.5 million students miss nearly a month of school every year in excused and unexcused absences. Locally, 675 students missed more than ten (10) days of school during the 2014-2015 school year, and 673 students exceeded this ten (10) day mark in 2013-2014. Developing the habit of going to school regularly is critical to doing well in school, college, and on the job. Recently, the Franklin County Board of School Trustees approved a new attendance policy for the upcoming school year which limits the number of days, excused and unexcused, that student may be absent from school to nine (9).
