January 2023 Support Staff of the Month

Director of Operations, Mr. Keith Isaacs, is pleased to announce that Mrs. Angie Westerfeld has been selected as January’s “Support Staff of the Month.” Angie currently serves as the Cafeteria Manager at Franklin County Middle School.

In 1988, Angie started her journey at Franklin County Schools as a cafeteria employee and a bus driver. Inspiration struck and from 1995 to 1997, Angie attended Ivy Tech Community College to earn her Dietary Management Certification and became a Certified Food Protection Professional. Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Westerfeld became the Cafeteria Manager at Franklin County Middle School and has remained in that position for almost 28 years. In all, Angie has devoted nearly 35 years to serving the students at Franklin County Community School Corporation.

Angie was nominated for this honor by four individuals including several colleagues and a student. When asked why Mrs. Westerfeld should be considered for this recognition, they responded, “Angie always has an outstanding, can-do attitude. Even when she has a lot on her plate, Angie is consistently available to help or answer any questions. She encourages others to work as hard as they can and always puts a smile on our faces. Mrs. Westerfeld has been managing and working in food service for a long time. Her passion for what she does and the love for her students is contagious. She without a doubt puts the students first and foremost, making sure they are all fed and get what they need to have a nutritious meal. Overall, Angie is hardworking and committed to what she does!”

Outside of school, Angie enjoys attending church and spending as much time as she can with family, including her kids and grandkids.

When asked what the best part of her job is, Mrs. Westerfeld responded, “It is an amazing opportunity to have served so many students. My favorite part is seeing kids come through the cafeteria, knowing that we have served their parents at one point.”

The purpose of the “Support Staff of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County Community School Corporation Support Staff who demonstrate dedication to his/her job, school, students, and community.
