December 2022 Support Staff of the Month

Director of Operations, Mr. Keith Isaacs, is thrilled to announce that Mrs. Helen Gillman has been selected as December’s “Support Staff of the Month.” Helen currently serves as the Head Secretary and Treasurer at Franklin County Middle School.

Mrs.Gillman has worked at the Franklin County Community School Corporation for 19 ½ years.

Helen was nominated for this honor by 10 colleagues. When asked why Mrs. Gillman should be considered for this recognition, they responded, “Helen is without a doubt one of the hardest workers in our building. Her work ethic is unparalleled. She comes to work early every day, takes care of her job, AND takes care of every little extra thing that comes her direction. Helen maintains her high level of efficiency even when filling multiple roles due to the absence of other staff members. She works timelessly to make sure all positions are filled each day and even goes the extra mile to make sure lesson plans are ready and available to the guest teachers upon their arrival. Helen has a great memory and pays close attention to details whether it is balancing school accounts, organizing student records, or making sure a teacher has a sub. She truly goes above and beyond…To name a few examples, she took our American Flag that had a hole in it for repair…she has printed dance tickets and party invites…she has cleaned tables in the cafeteria… and she has collected money for various fundraisers. There just isn’t any hesitation or lack of commitment in her. She does all that she can to make the job easier for teachers, administrators, and also parents. She is the heart of Franklin County Middle School together. There really couldn’t be anyone more deserving of this honor.”

In addition to her secretarial role, Helen is also an active member of Saint Michael’s Church where she helps with the festivals and her grandchildren.

Outside of school, Helen and her husband spend a lot of time going to their grandchildren’s sporting events. They also adore reading, having family gatherings, shopping, going out to eat, and traveling the world.

When asked what the best part of her job is, Mrs. Gillman responded, “I see so many facets of Franklin County Middle School. I get to interact with staff, students, and parents. I get to help when and where I am needed whether that is counting lunch money, tracking fundraisers, or paying bills. My role as secretary/treasurer keeps me busy so the day goes by very quickly. I am blessed to have a great principal and support staff to work with!”

The purpose of the “Support Staff of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County Community School Corporation Support Staff who demonstrate dedication to his/her job, school, students, and community.
