October 2022 Support Staff of the Month

Director of Operations, Mr. Keith Isaacs, is pleased to announce that Mrs. Emma Doerflein, paraprofessional at Franklin County Middle School, has been selected as October’s “Support Staff of the Month.”

Emma is in her fourth year of working at the Franklin County Community School Corporation.

Mrs. Doerflein was nominated for this honor by three colleagues. When asked why Emma should be considered for this recognition, they responded, “Mrs. Doerflein goes above and beyond expectations for students and staff. We consider Emma more of a co-teacher than a paraprofessional. She takes the initiative to assist all students whether it is in the classroom or not. If a student is struggling to open their locker, she is there to help. If a teacher is assisting a student struggling with behavior, she is there to help work with the rest of the students. Mrs. Doerflein also plays a part in the overall success of the classroom when the teacher is not present. She takes the time to meet with the sub to review expectations and procedures (including technology). Through all of this, Emma maintains a positive, caring attitude. She truly cares about the students and works hard to support that effort. She is a tremendous asset to Franklin County Middle School.”

In addition to her responsibilities in the classroom, Emma also volunteers her time to help kids excel in 4H. In her free time, Emma enjoys walking, making delicious homemade meals, along with tasty treats and desserts. During the summer, Emma and her family love traveling to different cities and parks to enjoy places that our wonderful country has to offer. Emma also enjoys trail riding with her husband and friends in western Indiana, Tennessee, and Michigan.

When asked what the best part of her job is, Emma responded, “The best part of my job is hearing a student exclaim with excitement ‘Mrs. Doerflein!’ To me that means I have brought joy to them and that I have made a positive impression. I also love being able to help not only the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students but help the teachers and staff as well. I will always be grateful for every memory made at Franklin County Middle School.”

The purpose of the “Support Staff of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County Community School Corporation Support Staff who demonstrate dedication to his/her job, school, students, and community.
