Mrs. Jacque Barricklow – March’s Educator of the Month

Mrs. Jacque Barricklow

Superintendent, Ms. Tammy Chavis, is thrilled to announce that Mrs. Jacque Barricklow, FACS and internship supervising teacher at Franklin County High School, has been selected as March’s “Educator of the Month.”

Mrs. Jacque Barricklow has been teaching for Franklin County Community Schools for 14 years. Mrs. Barricklow received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Hanover College. She continued on to receive her masters degree in curriculum and instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University and her kindergarten endorsement from Indiana University East.

Mrs. Barricklow was nominated for this honor by a parent. When asked why Mrs. Barricklow should be considered for this recognition, the parent responded, “Jacque is hardworking, friendly, and genuinely cares about her students. She puts in extra effort to make sure every student feels included and that they know that someone cares about them. This includes her IMPACT students who she hasn’t been able to meet. Recently, Mrs. Barricklow sent out an email to all of her IMPACT students and parents stating how excited she was about the kids coming back five days a week. She has been looking at their grades and identifying areas that some might need help in, and offered to help if she could. She has started a weekly recognition program, not just for grades, but for things like effort and attitude. She understands not all students get straight A’s but that doesn’t mean they aren’t hard working. Kids can excel in all kinds of areas. Jacque’s kindness and compassion should be recognized!”

When not at school, Jacque enjoys working in her flower beds, reading, and hanging out with friends. She loves to travel with her husband, especially to the beach. Moreover, her favorite thing to do in her free time is to travel to see her sons and their wives and go on adventures with them.

When asked what she loves most about her job, Mrs. Barricklow responded, “The best part of my job is being able to work with some of the most amazing teenagers around! Franklin County High School students are great! I love my job and the people I get to lock arms with each day to make an impact on our students. The internship program has allowed me to meet new people and to invest in not only the lives of my students but also the future of this community and surrounding communities.”

The purpose of the “Educator of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, leadership in the school, dedication to the students, and involvement in the community.
