Mrs. Gwen Demkovich – January’s Support Staff of the Month

Director of Operations, Mr. Keith Isaacs, is thrilled to announce that  Mrs. Gwen Demkovich, health coordinator/nurse supervisor at Franklin County Middle School, has been selected as January’s “Support Staff of the Month.”

Mrs. Demkovich is in her ninth year of working at the Franklin County Community School District. Gwen attended Indiana University East.

Gwen was nominated for this honor by several colleagues. When asked why Mrs. Demkovich should be considered for this recognition, the colleagues responded, “Gwen is very clearly committed to providing a healthy environment for the students. She is often demonstrating her strong skills in conflict resolution as a school nurse in the time of a national pandemic. She goes above and beyond to effectively follow the procedures for covid to make sure everyone is safe. Her work should not be overlooked as she does so much for the school and the students. From providing a therapy dog, to keeping track of all covid policies, she is highly appreciated by all of us!”

When asked what Gwen enjoys doing in her free time, Gwen responded, “Between being a school nurse, raising cows, chickens, cats, and Miley (school therapy dog), what is “free time”?

When asked what she enjoys most about her job, Mrs. Demkovich responded, “First, the people I work with and helping students and staff have a better day. Second, bringing Miley to school with me every day and seeing faces light up when they see her. There are so many reasons why I love my job, well…with the exception of covid.”

The purpose of the “Support Staff of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County Community School Corporation Support Staff who demonstrate dedication to his/her job, school, students, and community.
