Parent Letter Regarding the Return to In-Person Instruction

July 12, 2021

FCCSC parents/guardians:

On July 12, 2021, the Franklin County County School Board approved guidelines and protocols that will apply to summer school session #2 that begins on July 19, 2021.

Franklin County Community School Corporation (FCCSC) will return on August 9, 2021, for in-person instruction. There will be no online option available for students. These guidelines may evolve and change according to guidance and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control, the Indiana Department of Health, and the Franklin County Health Department.

School Bus Requirements
Face coverings are still required on school buses regardless of vaccination status per current federal CDC order. When this federal order is rescinded, students will no longer be required to wear face coverings on school buses.

K-12 Students and Staff Vaccinated
Face coverings are not necessary; use good judgement regarding social distancing; and no quarantine needed if identified as a close contact as long as they remain asymptomatic. Parents, students, and staff will be notified if they have been identified as close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Parents and staff will be notified via email and text message of all positive cases in school.

K-12 Students and Staff Unvaccinated
Face coverings are highly recommended, but not required, and social distancing of at least 3 feet when possible. Parents, students, and staff will be notified if they are a close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and may choose to quarantine for 10 days. An asymptomatic close contact may return on day 8 with a negative COVID-19 test. COVID-19 testing will be available at each individual school building. Parents and staff will be notified via email and text message of all positive cases in school.

K-12 Student and Staff COVID-19 Positive
Students and staff that test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to quarantine for 10 days.

If you have any questions regarding the changes please call the Franklin County Community Schools Administrative Office at 765-647-4128.
