Mrs. Ball Named Educator of the Month for May 2021

linda ballSuperintendent, Ms. Tammy Chavis, is thrilled to announce that Mrs. Linda Ball, first-grade teacher at Mount Carmel Elementary School, has been selected as May’s “Educator of the Month.”

Mrs. Ball is in her thirty-fifth year of teaching for Franklin County Community Schools. Mrs. Ball received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degree in Reading Instruction from The College of Mount Saint Joseph.

Mrs. Ball was nominated for this honor by a parent and their children. When asked why Mrs. Ball should be considered for this recognition, the former student responded, “Mrs. Ball is really fun and nice. She teaches us how to write and learn. She rewards the ones who are working hard and listening and she teaches the ones who do wrong so they can learn right from wrong. I am really happy I was in her class when I was in the first grade.” A sibling who is currently in Linda’s class responded “Mrs. Ball is a really, really good teacher. She teaches us a lot of stuff. She corrects our handwriting when we do it wrong. She lets me bring in projects I make at home to show the class. She is really nice.” The parent summed it up by stating, “Mrs. Ball has impacted thousands of lives through her dedication and love for her classroom.”

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Ball is an active member of her church where she helps with the hospitality, missions, Sunday School, and taking care of the flower gardens. Linda also organizes various activities for Relay for Life to donate to FC Can. When not at school, Linda enjoys working in her garden, cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

When asked what she loves most about her job, Mrs. Ball responded, “The best part of my job is watching a child’s eyes light up when they realize they have mastered a difficult skill. It is amazing to see how much my students grow academically. I also enjoy watching them gain the confidence they need to become successful readers, writers, and mathematicians.”

The purpose of the “Educator of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, leadership in the school, dedication to the students, and involvement in the community.
