Mrs. Hollie Noah is Named October’s Educator of the Month

Superintendent, Dr. Debbie Howell, is happy to announce, that Mrs. Hollie Noah, English Teacher at Franklin County Middle School, is being honored as October’s “Educator of the Month”.  This is a “repeat” for Mrs. Noah. She previously earned this recognition in May of 2016.

Mrs. Noah began her career in education at Brookville Middle School 16 years ago.  She was initially assigned to teach seventh grade English. Over her tenure in Franklin County she has taught all levels of English at the middle school.  Currently Noah teaches eighth grade English classes at Franklin County Middle School.

Mrs. Noah received her Bachelor’s Degree from Mount St. Joseph College majoring in English, Communications, and Education.  She later earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan. In addition to teaching at the middle school Mrs. Noah is the student council sponsor, coaches volleyball, and is a member of the School Improvement Committee.

A student at Franklin County Middle School nominated Mrs. Noah for this award. During her time at the middle school, the nominating student has undergone major medical procedures.  Mrs. Noah has supported this student and her family throughout the entire process, serving as one of her biggest cheerleaders! The nominating student wrote Mrs. Noah “is always caring and helpful.  She love all of her students so much and would do anything for them. She goes above and beyond with everything she does!”

Between teaching, coaching, and her sponsorships, it is hard to imagine that Mrs. Noah has any “free time”.  However, Mrs. Noah “makes” time for her family. She is married and has three children. Her children are also very active in school and in the community.  Mrs. Noah enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, riding quads, biking, playing volleyball, and camping. “Any day spent with my family is a great day.”

When asked about the best part of her job, Mrs. Noah replied, “The best part of my job is being with the kids.  I love teaching the kids and getting kids who ‘hate to read’ to come in shouting that they ‘loved’ a book that I picked out for them, or arguing over the possible endings of A Walk to Remember, or when I have a whole group of rowdy boys crying actual tears while reading Where the Red Fern Grows…  I love seeing kids enjoy reading books rather than movies and video games.  I love watching them learn and realize that they CAN actually do whatever it is we are working on or learning… and I love seeing them grow as people–there’s nothing better than watching a teenager choose to do what is RIGHT over what is easiest or ‘what everyone else is doing,’ especially when they think no one is watching… ”

The purpose of the “Educator of the Month” program is to recognize outstanding Franklin County educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, leadership in the school, dedication to the students, and involvement in the community.  Nomination forms for “Educator of the Month” can be found on the school corporation website at www.fccsc.k12.in.us.
